Peace campaigner Lindis Percy's private prosecution against an MoD policeman was thrown out of court yesterday - leaving her with a legal bill of more than £4,700.

The case arose out of an incident in January when she was arrested at RAF Fylingdales. The Crown Prosecution Service dropped the case saying it was not in the public interest.

Included in the case was a file copy of a public order notice given to her in 2005 which contained spelling mistakes and abbreviations. The man responsible was PC Martin Sheppard of RAF Fylingdales. Because the copy had featured in a potential criminal case Ms Percy, 65, of Harrogate, claimed the mistakes amounted to forgery which could have perverted the course of justice. But yesterday Judge Paul Hoffman, at York Crown Court, dismissed the case, saying she was making "something out of nothing".
