CND Campaigners Helen John and Sylvia Boyes, both charged under the Serious Organised Crime Act (S128) for breaking into Menwith Hill, the US spy base in North Yorkshire, were informed at a hearing at Harrogate Magistrates Court on Wednesday 18th October that their trial will take place on the 9th, 10th & 11th January 2007.

John (68) and Sylvia Boyes (63) were arrested on April 1st 2006, the day the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act (S128) came into force, criminalising trespass at a number of US Bases, nuclear facilities and NATO High command structures in the UK.

Both women attempted to gain entry to Menwith Hill in North Yorkshire, equipped with a hammer and wire cutters to illustrate the extent to which 'anti terror' legislation is being used to stifle and criminalise legitimate peaceful protest.

Helen John will also face trial in Ipswich, Suffolk on November 17th 2006. She was arrested and charged after trying to gain entry to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. Latest estimates indicate that up to 110 US Nuclear missiles are stored at the base, which is of vital strategic importance to the US military.
