Three new planning applications:

6.90.320CROWND  Two security camera towers and addition of camera to existing to existing tower.

[NB We still await reply to complaint that no planning application has been submitted for 34 additional CCTV cameras on existing towers. We have also complained that they keep the surrounding roads and countryside under surveillance, which is a civil liberties' invasion of privacy contrary to the Human Rights Act. We also still await plans for other security measures such as razor-wire fences, MoD Control Shelters, security gates at Main Gate].

6.500.58.E CROWN  Replace perimeter fence security lighting for OPS and SATCOM Compounds.

[NB Following complaints made about light pollution from the glare of security lighting, the base authorities inclined the lights to point downwards and reduced the wattage. Complaints do have effect!]

6.90.257.E CROWN  1 portacabin attached to building 48.

[NB Building 48 is the AAFES mini-Mall. i.e. the sub-section of the Commissary, open 24 hours. The US personnel have their own supermarket, liquor store and filling station because they do not pay VAT nor excise duty on goods, alcohol and gasoline. This facility is not available to the UK personnel. Last week the local paper reported the conviction of the Commisary's UK night-watchman for theft of $38,000 in goods. No wonder they need extra security!]
