Following the arrest and charge (alleged obstruction of the highway) at the regular CAAB weekly demonstration 7-9 pm on Christmas Eve of Christine Dean and Mike
Davies, North Yorkshire police again acted in a somewhat draconian way by spuriously arresting Lindis Percy (same alleged offence).
This time Lindis was held at Harrogate Police Station for the duration of the demonstration and released at 9 pm without charge. She was 'reported with a view to prosecution' - however this is unlikely to be brought. We know.....it's extremely cold and wet and dark at this time of the year - the CAAB demonstrations have been going for over two years. This key American base is crucially involved in the build-up to the pending US/UK attack on Iraq and will be extremely important in any conflict. Menwith Hill won an award for the part it played in the Gulf War in 1990. The base will play a central part in the American Missile Defense plans.
We urgently need more people to come to these demonstrations. Come and oppose the war on Iraq and the American Missile Defense programme.
It would be such a tremendous use of your time......
