June 12th - The second SBIRS satellite dish at NSA Menwith Hill is now in place. We will put a photograph on this website site as soon as we can.
The third BMD test is now expected anytime in the period 3 - 12 July. This is the third test which will probably be crucial in President Clinton's decision (although the decision may well be postponed until the result of the Presidential elections in November are known) as to whether the NMD system is given the 'go-ahead'. However it seems that as the programme is well advanced already that decision is but a formality. It is thought that there may be a fourth test. |

Apologies for the slightly poor quality of this photograph which was taken from a distance (thank you to John Lynes) on Saturday 3 June 2000 and shows one
of two SBIRS satellite dishes in place at NSA Menwith Hill UK. The other satellite dish will probably be lifted on to the 'stem' this week and then both covered up with two radomes ("golf
balls").

June 2nd - One of two SBIRS satellite dishes was lifted on to the 'stem' of one of the two SBIRS radomes under construction at NSA Menwith Hill yesterday
(1 June 2000). The next stage will be the construction of the radomes to cover the satellite dishes up and the system will probably then be soon 'on-line'.
The SBIRS radomes can easily be seen and it will be a last chance to see the satellite dishes in place before they are covered up. May we suggest that as many people as can go to Menwith Hill WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS and demonstrate your opposition at the construction of a crucial part of 'Star Wars'. If you can't go now please come on 4 July and on to Fylingdales on 8 July 2000 - more details here .

| We observed on 25 April 2000 that the stems for the two SBIRS satellite radomes had been lifted into place inside the concrete bases. The building of a crucial part of the BMD system started in November 1999 and was due to come 'on line' in February 2000. The concrete bases were completed and then work appeared to stop. However it now looks as if the work will proceed quite quickly. |
