JOHN BUGG WALK AND VIGIL

http://www.motherearth.org/lakenheathaction/events.php3#buggRIAL

in support of this annual event, Lakenheath Action Group propose to

CELEBRATE THE FOOTPATHS

14th April will again see the anniversary of the bombing of Libyan civilians by the United States Air Force flying from Lakenheath. On each anniversary a vigil has been kept outside the main entrance to the base from 10 pm to midnight, the period of the bombing on 14th April 1986. For some years there was also an annual memorial walk on this day along the public footpath through the base reclaimed by the determined efforts of John Bugg. Since the renewed closure of the footpath in June 1999 the Walk has taken place on the diverted footpath, most of which was closed to the public immediately after September 11th 2001.

We will meet at the main gate of R.A.F. Lakenheath (Gate 1 on the A1065 between Barton Mills and Brandon) around midday on Sunday 13th April 2003. After a flexible period of vigilling, there will be a choice of footpaths (maps provided), along with the remaining part of the diverted John Bugg Walk, for all to take a leisurely stroll along, meandering around the base perimeter or taking in the nearby villages or the area of Maidscross Hill with a good view from the trig point of the surrounding area.

The walks will finish at Eriswell Parish Hall, where refreshments will be provided - also a pickup point. Where certain footpaths start or end a distance from Eriswell, drop-offs and pickups can be arranged. Those who wish can join the Libya vigil later.
